2011-10-05 Launch Fuel Cell Expertise Network
Being the most efficient cogeneration technology known to date, fuel cells have a strong potential to reduce our consumption of fossil fuels for heat and electricity generation and are one of the most promising solutions for our climate problem. Fuel cells are rapidly approaching the market already. The Fuel Cell Expertise Network, to be launched on 6thof October 2011 during Energy 2011 in Den Bosch, the Netherlands, is initiated to support the market development in the field of small scale CHP applications.
Many demonstration projects have been realised proving basic technical feasibility. Kiwa, one of the founding companies of the Fuel Cell Expertise Network, has recently finished a series of field tests of micro-CHP fuel cells. These demonstration projects have helped to increase the awareness of potential users for Fuel Cell technology. The current challenge is to develop a competitively priced product that adheres to market conditions.
The ultimate goal of the Fuel Cell Expertise Network is to bring stationary fuel cell application to a mass-market proposition and thus facilitate market growth. By bringing togethe a network of frontrunners form across the value chain, the Fuel Cell Expertise Network aims to support rapid and succesful market introduction of Fuel Cell technology. To this end the network will inventory market opportunities and match these with available fuel cells and alternatives.
Participants include fuel cell manufacturers, boiler manufacturers, energy companies, gas trading companies, network companies and governmental organizations.
The Fuel Cell Expertise Network is an initiative of Kiwa Gas Technology, a technical expert on (natural) gas technology and Energy Matters, a consultancy firm with a strong background in market strategies for new technologies.
